Guacamole With a Twist
Guacamole is a popular favorite ...especially around game time and just a late-night easy appetizer. Because of how much I've done this recipe and have gotten so many compliments on it on what's that unique taste that very few seem to guess, I sometimes feel like I'm a guac master.
A little bit on the health benefits of avocados -
Fun Fact: One cup (around 150 g) of sliced avocados have more potassium than one cup of sliced bananas.

So, here we go.
So, before we start, you have to know that guacamole is all about the balance of ingredients. No more, no less.
Few tips to note-
Few tips to note-
- When doing guac, always go for a ripe Hass avocado as it's very rich in taste and just perfect for guac. Find out more about choosing the perfectly ripe Hass avocado here.
- Use lime instead of lemon because it's richer in taste with a sweeter aroma that gives the guac this perfectly balanced savory taste.
- Use any type of tomatoes you like as long as it's firm and not very ripe.
- It's best to use sweet onion because it gives it the perfect mild flavor that you're looking for.
- Now, here's the big flavor-twister. Use parsley instead of cilantro or both. You are probably thinking WHAT? but yes...thanks to my sister, an "anti-cilantro", I decided to experiment guac with the closest thing to cilantro ➟ parsley and believe it or not it was GREAT and I've been doing it with only parsley most of the time. But, remember that cilantro is one of the richest, most aromatic herbs out there and it pairs well with almost anything and yes the original guac recipe calls for cilantro; but it's up to you!
- Black pepper is a must but if you want to feel spicier, don't add jalapenos. Instead, sprinkle a little cayenne pepper.
- If you like a more tropical, adventurous dip, feel free to add mangoes.
- The last thing I want to talk about is the salt. As you can see, I used pink Himalayan salt as I've been using it in all my recipes instead of the regular table salt. It has so many benefits to our bodies internally and externally. Read my blog about the benefits of the pink Himalayan salt here.
